Introduction
Having begun her freelance writing career within the field of complementary therapies, Marie now devotes 100% of her time in travel writing and photography. She has travelled the world extensively since 1987, and has explored most of Australia, New Zealand's North Island, the east, central and west coast of the United States and Hawaii, Fiji, the Caribbean, the Greek islands and Athens, various regions in Italy, France's Verdon Gorge and The Azores; mainly Sao Miguel.
In 2004, Marie won first prize in Greece magazine's national travel-writing competition with her winning piece: 'Painting the Town White'. Since then, Marie has been a regular freelance writer for the magazine. She also writes for their sister magazine, Australia & New Zealand and her work has also featured in The Italian, Italia!, Italy, Devon Life, Reach, To Portugal, Bicycling Australia, Great Walks and Arrivals + Departures. And Marie's work will soon feature in Singapore Airlines' Silverkris magazine, Jetstar's inflight and Stamford Life.
British-born, Marie spent two years living, working and travelling in Australia, followed up by annual visits, before finally emigrating there and has an in-depth knowledge of the country; particularly of Sydney and the east coast. Now, as a permanent Australian resident based in Adelaide, she devotes most of her time to freelance projects within South Australia whilst continuing to travel to Europe to write material for UK-based magazines.
Marie is planning some ideas for guide books, but firstly, will spend time exploring the colours, temperatures and curvatures of Kangaroo Island off the south coast of Australia. She then plans to devote the rest of 2008 to travels throughout the country, with The Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders Ranges and the Fleurieu Peninsula as well as the Murray River being her early 2008 missions.
